TGIF

We're pretty big fans of adventures, so when we found out about this corn maze down in Wooster that's in the shape of the state of Ohio we were pretty excited. To say the least. I mean check it out . . .

Photo from Ramseyer Farms

Awesome, right? It's at Ramseyer Farms and they also have a bunch of other fun fall activities like hayrides, a straw bale obstacle course, a pumpkin patch and also this other ridiculously cool maze . . .

Photo from Ramseyer Farms

They call it their "Mystery Maize" so I can't wait to see what that's all about. Oh, did I mention we're going tomorrow? If you want to follow along with our adventures (and knowing us there will definitely be a few), follow us on Twitter - @OHis4lovers. We'll be tweeting updates and pictures along the way!

Snack on this

I recently discovered the food blog A Cozy Kitchen and now I can't get enough. I'm not the most skilled in the kitchen, but I'm trying and I'm learning a lot. So when I saw a recipe on A Cozy Kitchen for super simple almond butter, I thought hey why not. It was super simple and super tasty, so here you go . . .

All you need for this at-home almond butter is a food processor, some almonds, a little bit of salt and some honey if you'd like. Pour as many almonds as you want in the food processor and start up the processor. It does take a while to get the consistency right and you will have to stop to scrape the sides here and there. When you get it creamy (it took me about 15 minutes) add in a bit of salt and some honey if you feel like it and then continue blending for a few more minutes. All in all, I think it took me about 20 minutes to come out with my finished product. I simply scooped it into a Tupperware dish and stuck it in the fridge when it was done.

I can't wait to spread this on some toast for breakfast!

Going Green!

I love things that are well designed and super practical, so when I found these eco-friendly pizza boxes I debated my desirer to quit my job and open a pizza shop.
(I love my job ... so that's just silly but it does prove how much I love these boxes.)
Not only are they made of recycled material, they serve as both plate ....
... and storage container. Talk about efficient!
You can find these awesome boxes at ECO.

Fall in love . . .

I love fall. I couldn't be more excited for the boots, the sweaters and the scarves - especially after I found these scarves.

Photo via EStarKnits
I fell in love with cowl scarves after I spotted one on designlovefest's website so I was super excited to find them on Etsy when I was browsing through local shops (bonus points because it's from Akron!). EStarKnits has a ton of cute scarves if the cowl isn't your thing, and every scarf comes with a whole bunch of color options too! I'm definitely looking forward to adding one of these to my cooler weather wardrobe.

Hello, Fall!

Yesterday, I covered some awesome golf and found myself standing on the muddy course wearing black ballet flats. That wasn't my brightest moment, so this morning I decided I need some rain boots that I can keep in my car for all my sports reporting needs.

These are perfect! Check out these Donna Karen Voyager Rain Boots. They are packable and perfect any weather, especially here in the O-H-I-O!

Style this: fishtail braid

I'm really loving the fishtail braid that seems to be popping up all over the place.

I'm also loving how easy it is to do with your own hair. I found instructions and a video tutorial on The Beauty Department's website - it was quick and easy, and it seems to me like the messier the better. Perfection.

TGIF

If you haven't noticed, we love Ohio. So when I stumbled upon these lovely state and city pieces, I knew I had to put them on our blog. Catstudio specializes in locale-themed items, from hand-embroidered pillows and aprons to glasses and bags. They're all gorgeous, but I'm especially in love with the hand-embroidered pieces like the pillows, dish towels and aprons.

The pillows are a little on the pricey side (one pillow is $149), but they are hand-embroidered and I'm definitely in love with all the colors and the design.

The dish towels are equally amazing and a little more budget-friendly at $20 a piece, although you do have to buy two as an order minimum. For both the pillows and the dish towels, you have your choice from cities, states, countries, regions and resorts and national parks.

These would make a great housewarming gift for someone (especially if they're moving to a different state) or it would be a good Christmas gift for any of your friends that like to travel. Spread that state love!

Listen Up!

For probably the first time in my life, my new love is a band I heard on the radio.
Check out Foster the People who brings their indie pop sound to the mainstream. If the Shins, Vampire Weekend and The Arctic Monkeys had a love child this would be the band. It's the perfect mellow poppy sound for singing in the car or just chilling out.

Stuff to snack on

My roommates spoiled me. I had to face a lot of harsh realizations entering the real world without them - the harshest one of all may have been that not all guacamole tastes as good as Danielle's. She always made us fresh guacamole so I never knew anything else . . . until I didn't have Danielle in my apartment and I was craving guacamole. So I learned how to make it for myself (with her text message recipe) and trust me, if I can do it so can you. Especially since I'm giving you a recipe and all my helpful hints after the jump . . .

Hitch or Ditch? Hair Feathers

Welcome to OH is 4 Lovers first “Hitch or Ditch” post debating the trends, fads and the overall caliber of some of the items we want to love but aren’t sure it’s for real.
For those of you unfamiliar with the game Hitch or Ditch, here a little break down:
Hitch or Ditch is taking an attribute and whether that attribute would impact your decision to hitch someone ( or in this case something).
This is a shallow game that is only fun if you play it shallowly. Let go, have fun!
My personal favorites of Hitch or Ditch (for people):
- Absolutely loves guns?
-Hooks for hands?
-Won’t step on the cracks (on the side walk)?

A recent Hitch or Ditch was “Has a feather in their hair?” I have a great deal of coworkers who hate all things “hipster.”
But would feathers be a bad choice?

It’s my own personal battle to put a feather in my hair like my deep desire to have tattoo of the state of Ohio. My own crazy blinds me sometime.
Alissa has one but she looks adorable in everything, so that’s no help to me.
What do you think?
To feather or not to feather?
Hitch or Ditch?

Inspiring Design

I came across this advertisement last weekend for a T-shirt design show near my apartment. To say I fell in love with this lovely ad would probably be an understatement.

I loved that they printed it on jersey fabric so it felt like a T-shirt and I also just loved everything about the physical design of the ad - the fonts, the layout, I love it all.

I have a mild obsession with anything with the state of Ohio on it. I have a handkerchief, an enamel pin and I desperately want a tattoo of my great state state. But until I get the guts to ink myself with the OH, I'll try out this Ohio necklace from truche.
If Ohio isn't a state you'd like to don, they also have a selection of the other 49 states. -Becky

A Final Taste of Summer

As the weather gets colder here in the big OH, I'm in a desperate search for those final pieces of summer. I discovered this taste of the of summer the other day.

Brambleberry Crisp ice cream from Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream, mixes organic vanilla ice cream with real fruit. The best part is it's made in Ohio! -Becky

Work it out

Leaving college meant a lot of new things for me - one being an update to my wardrobe. My mom and I set out this weekend to pick up some basic items to add to my new, professional wardrobe and one major item on that list was a blazer. I picked up this black blazer from Kohl's . . .

and I'm in love with it. It's an open-front boyfriend blazer with ruched sleeves from LC Lauren Conrad. The sleeve detail is that perfect, subtle addition that makes the blazer stand out, and one of the things I loved most. It's also the perfect transition piece for fall because the lightweight material makes it perfect for layering. The boyfriend cut makes it a little more casual too so it's perfect to go to work in or wear with jeans on the weekend!

Check it out if you're looking for more professional pieces to add to your closet too.

My oldest and dearest friend Abbie is back in town. She's pretty awesome in the kitchen and I aked if she would make these with me when she got back. Yes, they are Lucky Charms ice cream sandwiches. After our (mostly my) failed attempt to make churros last weekend, we need something fantastic to make up for it. I think these may be it.

I can't think of a sweeter way to end the summer! Have a great weekend - make some of these scrumptious treats and let us know how it goes!

Flirt with this

I have trouble being a nail polish type of girl. But this summer I discovered Essie's Mademoiselle.

It's the perfect light shade of pink that looks more natural than painted on.
It's the perfect solution for a classy color that won't make you like you're overdoing it.

Save the hot pink for your toes and treat your tips to some Mademoiselle.
